Few kids will grab your attention like my little buddy Brayden. He is one special kid. Life has dealt him a few tough hands, but he soldiers on and is an inspiration to me and everyone else that he meets. Only had one light and a portable soft box, so I had to make the most of what I had on hand.

Standing on guard at the Parliament building in Athens, Greece. Always easy to snap shots when your subject is trained to stand perfectly still. I think this is my first photo involving any type of firearm.

Watching Dad Play Ball

Snapped a picture of this little guy watching his dad (my co-worker) play at a company softball game. The sun was in just the right place and I loved the pattern effect of the fence. Photographing kids is always fun.

Joanna and a Bellingham Sunset

I recently finished watching the Strobist series of DVDs and it inspired my to get an off-camera flash sunset shot. I took this on our back deck with just a single flash and a white shoot-through umbrella. I am really happy with how it turned out. 1 beautiful wife and 1 beautiful sunset = magic!

My neighbor Lisa is a personal trainer and recently entered a fitness contest. It was months of hard work and training and she wanted to have some pictures to remember her hard work (and rock solid look). Took this in her basement using three different flashes. The muscles are real but the sweat is all from a misting spray bottle!

Snapping Little Lucas

Lately I have really been focused on getting better at shooting portraits. What better a model than one of the cutest little tykes to walk the planet – baby Lucas. One thing I learned about shooting little kids – grab the camera and start shooting. They move around – a lot. This is one of the few shots where I actually had him in the right spot for my lights.

A shot of my dog Abby gazing out across the river in historic Fort Langley. I just loved how the sun was hitting her and how she contrasted the tall green grass. It’s rare when I can make her sit still and get a good shot of her.

Wedding Day Bliss

A portrait shot from the first wedding I have ever photographed.I was really nervous about doing this and I was on a mission to get photos that looked natural and not too “staged”. Fortunately, they were really good sports about posing for the camera while I fiddled with all my settings trying to figure out what would work best.

My First Wedding Shoot!

It was with a great deal of nervousness that I recently agreed to photograph the wedding of my good friends Art and Tina. Shooting a wedding is tough. It’s one of the most important moments in someone’s life and there is no re-shoot if you don’t get the goods first time around. It was tough. It was tiring. But it was also a lot of fun and I learned a lot. I think it’s also the first time that I have shot for almost 7 hours straight (without stopping). 8 ) Perhaps my most favorite. Tina was crying because of her mom’s lovely speech. But the photo could be taken so many other ways. I didn’t even realize I had captured the tear drop until I was uploading the photos in post.
